Members of the Utah Hotel & Lodging Association attended the association's Spring Fling today in Springdale, UT at the Best Western Zion Park Inn. In addition to networking with other Utah hoteliers and lodging property managers, attendees were treated to a free educational program presented by Sprague Pest Solutions on Pest Prevention and the lodging industry's most dreaded pest, Bed Bugs.
While we were excited to be a UH&LA Spring Fling Event Sponsor, our passion is in education and helping hotel owners and managers learn ways to:
- Prevent pest activity
- Protect properties and guests from pest risks
- Prepare for when Bed Bugs check-in at their hotel
It's true. Bed bugs are a real issue. Our Salt Lake City Service Center is receiving calls weekly from hotel and lodging properties who need help with bed bug infestations. There are many risks and choices to make it comes to bed bug control. (Did you know there are dogs that will inspect for bed bugs?) Attendees got a first-hand look at actual bed bug specimens and had an opportunity to ask questions of our entomologist (fancy name for professional bug guy), Jeff Weier, BCE.

The Consumer Checkbook recently ranked Sprague as one of the Top 5 Pest Control companies in the Puget Sound for quality and price.
Consumer Checkbook is an independent, nonprofit consumer information and service resource that rates local service companies.
Sprague Pest Solutions hosted the 2008 Solutions for Sustainability conference earlier this month at the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, WA. The event was attended by 200 participants including Sprague clients, employees, Copesan representatives and dozens of sponsors and exhibitors.
Learning sessions focused on "green" approaches to pests commonly found in commercial accounts such as flies, cockroaches and rodents. Presentations also addressed trends in the commercial marketplace, client expectations, the future of food safety. The important role of pest management and prevention in helping organizations achieve their environmental goals also was discussed.
Sprague's next Technical Conference is tentatively scheduled for March 2009. Plans are underway and details will be available soon. If you are interested in attending, please send your contact information to email@example.com. Include your name, company, mailing address and phone number.
Continuing a long history of introducing innovative service solutions, Sprague Pest Solutions is excited to announce we are the first to bring Bed Bug Canine Inspection services to clients in the Northwest. Bed bug dogs have been used in New York, Florida, Japan and now, we are able to offer this smarter approach to detecting bed bugs locally.
Rescued from the pound, Sprague's bed bug canine has been trained using the same methodology and training regimen as bomb-sniffing dogs, drug dogs and termite dogs. Our Special Services Manager is certified by a canine master trainer as a bed bug dog handler. His bed bug inspection dog is April, a labrador who is the first canine on the Sprague service team.
