2023 AIB Audit Standards Update

As of January 1, 2023, AIB International Consolidated Standards for Inspections has updated their industry best practices, new regulations, and food safety requirements. As part of their commitment to ensuring the integrity of the food supply chain, the company invested time and resources to update five of its Consolidated Standards, including the Consolidated Standards for Prerequisite & Food Safety Programs, Beverage Facilities, Non-Food Contact Packaging Manufacturing Facilities, Food Contact Packaging Manufacturing Facilities, and Food Distribution Centers.

What does this mean to you?
Reviews: Sprague will now conduct three (3) quarterly reviews in addition to your one (1) annual review. Failing to undergo quarterly and annual reviews will result in a deduction on your audit; as stated in section 4.7.1.6: Pest sightings and activity evidence are reviewed by pest management personnel at least quarterly or more frequently to identify trends. A report of findings is submitted to designed facility personnel.

Risk Assessments: According to the updated standards, it’s now a critical requirement to undergo a facility assessment. As stated in section 4.1: An annual assessment of the facility is conducted to provide an evaluation of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program to ensure that it is effective.

What do you need to do?
Sprague will reach out to you to schedule your 2023 quarterly and annual reviews.  Annual reviews are commonly scheduled for Quarter 1 of each calendar year. If you would like to schedule a facility risk assessment, please contact our office at info@spraguepest.com or 1.800.272.4988.

Is there a cost associated with the new standards?
Yes. USD125 for each quarterly review and USD175 for your annual review. This will be invoiced separately unless directed to consolidate the billing.

Sprague is constantly reviewing all audit standards and ensuring we minimize your risk of deduction.
