Parking lot sweet spot for wasp nests

My client was having a wasp problem in his parking lot, and he couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. I immediately knew where the hive was when I drove up.

Wasps love to build their nests in this type of light pole. They enter and exit through the metal protector that covers the screws and wires that go from the metal post to the concrete block.

Wasps build fairly big nests inside these covers. It’s the perfect spot: protected from the elements and out of sight for untrained eyes.

Remember to check these parking lot light posts as needed. While you’re out there, look up and around these posts for evidence of bird droppings.  Birds like to roost in these light pools, too.
